CASE AIA FARMHOUSE

The intervention involved the restoration and conservative rehabilitation of a rural farmhouse located in the municipality of Carmignano (PO).
The building is set within a valuable hilly landscape overlooking the Prato plain and the city of Florence, surrounded by olive groves and located between the municipalities of Carmignano and Poggio a Caiano, in an area of high landscape value.

The project was conceived with the aim of rehabilitating the building while respecting its original morphological character, while also adapting it to contemporary functional and sanitary requirements.
At the same time, technical solutions were adopted to improve both the seismic performance of the building and its energy efficiency.

Regarding seismic improvement, the floor slabs and roof structure were reconstructed, reinforced masonry frames in reinforced concrete were introduced and metal tie rods were installed to enhance the structural behaviour of the building.

Energy efficiency was achieved through:

• thermal insulation of the building envelope
• renovation of the building systems with high-efficiency heat pump solutions
• energy production from renewable sources
